Washtenaw LiteracyMasonic Outreach to the CommunityA portion of our community is in need of help to improve its English language skills. The need is there for both native speakers to improve reading and writing skills and for immigrants who need help with English as a second language (ESL). Our entire community benefits when its less fortunate members improve their literacy. A major cause of poverty is illiteracy. Worshipful Brother Sean Dykhouse's interest in community literacy directed us to the Washtenaw Literacy program. They have many programs that are in need of volunteer help. AAF-262 has decided to encourage our Brothers to support Washtenaw Literacy on Thursday evenings. We will aim for the 2nd and 4th Thursdays to concentrate our efforts. The format is English as a second language. No training is necessary. The session runs from 6 to 7:30 pm. Contact Sean Dykhouse at 734-717-7287 or Stuart Berry at 734-668-6134 for additional information. This meeting is held at the Washtenaw County Library at 4135 Washtenaw Ave. |
